Scott Manning

Scott Manning

Western Canada

Growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, I played every sport I could, before narrowing it down to hockey and rugby. Rugby eventually led me to the playing rugby at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island and a chance to represent Canada at the national U19 level. When injury ended my playing career early, I took a break from the game for a few years before returning in a coaching capacity. I began my coaching career at my local club in Edmonton, coaching the senior women’s team. My passion for coaching quickly developed, leading me back to UVic to pursue a Masters of Education in Coaching Studies, while also taking on the head coaching role for the premier men at the Castaway Wanderers RFC. At this time I was grateful for the opportunity to work as an assistant coach with the Canada U18 men’s program. After five years coaching with Canada U18 and at CW, I was successful in taking over for my old head coach, Doug Tate, and become the Program Lead & Head Coach of the Vikes Men’s Varsity Rugby program at UVic.
